Cabo is America’s most accessible dental vacation destination being only 1.5 to 5 hours away by air from all major US cities. ABC TV, NBC, the NY Times and others having done stories on dental vacations to Cabo. Visit us and you’ll discover why ABC Good Morning America says “Dental Vacations are the hottest thing going in travel!”

About Mexican Dentists:

Mexico’s University National Autonomous in Mexico City dates back almost 500 years. Founded as the Royal University of Mexico in 1551, UNAM is almost 100 years older than Harvard and over 300 years older than the University of Southern California in Los Angeles California.

Mexico subsidizes medical education and makes a one-year social service internship in a government clinic a requirement after graduation.

Mexican doctors and dentists will spend up to three or more additional years in school for advanced specialty education.

Mexican medical students often use the same textbooks written in English as their American counterparts, and later when practicing, order the same materials and equipment from the same catalogues as American medical professionals.

About Hygiene: Proper hygiene and safety is a concern worldwide.  Our doctors use latex gloves, face shields, masks, and full surgical suits when necessary for serious operations.  High temperature sterilization equipment, bacterial soaps and more are mandatory.

About Making an Appointment:  Use the Free Online Consultation Form The appropriate doctor or specialist review all inquiries along with our Dental Tourist Advisor who will schedule your appointment. If you leave us a telephone number and time to call, you can discuss your needs personally with our Dental Tourist Advisor or Doctor as necessary.

About Time Necessary For Crowns:

Normal lab turnaround time is 4 days. The lab doubles their fees for "rush" work that is finished within 24-48 hours. Up to 5 crowns can be completed in 4 days, 15 in a week, a full set in about 2 weeks.

Some large treatment patients have their temporaries put in during their first visit of several days, then return weeks or months later to have their new permanent crowns set.
The 2nd visit to set the permanent crowns can be just for a weekend, as it only takes a couple of hours. It's good to add a couple of days for any extra bite adjustments before returning home.
All dental implant patients need 2-3 months to allow their mouth to heal before receiving their permanent crowns. So a 2nd visit to Cabo will be necessary to set the crowns. We don’t recommend One-Day-Implants as they have a higher failure rate than normal implants and cannot be used on molars.

About Follow-up Care:  We guarantee our work!  If you've been cracking nuts, crushing ice or removing bottle caps with your teeth, the doctor is not going to be too sympathetic.  For a simple bite adjustment etc. - your local dentist will be less expensive than returning to Cabo.  And you'll still have saved money vs. having the work done at home in the first place. Anytime you have a question or problem - contact us and feel free to come in for any follow-up care should it be necessary.  Plan on visiting us twice a year for your general dentistry and vacation.  Bring the family in and save even more. Think globally, consider us as your new local dentist!

About Cabo: With over 3.5 million visitors a year, Cabo is equal to Orlando, Cancun and Hawaii in popularity with tourists.  Fish big game, ride horses on the beach, Jet Ski, snorkel, sail, surf, wind surf, whale watch, swim with dolphins, golf, party the night away, explore remote villages, art colonies and more!  Cabo is the perfect world-class dental vacation destination where you can have non-stop fun adventures or just relax on a quiet beach and enjoy the sun and the sea. And vacation here virtually free with your savings on dentistry.

About Passports:

Passports are required to enter Mexico by air.  US passports can be obtained in as little as one week if you are willing to pay extra.  Pick up the application forms at your local post office or online. Mexican Tourist Visa paperwork will be issued to you on the flight before arrival.

About Security:

If you're from a big city like Los Angeles, Mexico City or Bagdad relax.  Los Cabos  enjoys one of the lowest crime rates in Mexico and the USA.

For years, Los Cabos has had the highest rate of employment and growth in Mexico due to its popularity as a tourist destination and all the ongoing hotel, condo and luxury home construction projects. You can relax on the beach or walk the town at night and feel safe as long as you don't hand over your Gold Card to a time-share salesman.

About Accommodations:    You have many hotel options in Los Cabos.  From $50 a night for the Mar de Cortez in Cabo where the old movie stars used to hang-out by the pool, to good rooms running from $65 to $300 a night - near, on the beach or marina.  We have a list of hotels that we will be happy to send to you that we recommend.  There are also some hotels that give as much as 50% off to our patients.  So be sure to check with us before you reserve your room.

About Airlines:  Many commercial airlines serve nearby San Jose Del Cabo International airport (sjd).  Cabo San Lucas itself has a small general aviation airport suitable for Piper Cubs and the like.  International Commercial flights do not land in Cabo San Luca’s airport.  Airfare costs from $200 to $600 r/t from all major US airports with advance purchase.  Yahoo Travel scans 40 other sites for you and sometimes the airline Internet sites have specials better than Yahoo’s.

About Alternative Transportation:

Motor Coach from Tijuana - You’ll enjoy 20 hours  watching American cartoons in Spanish.  Automobile - 2-3 days of driving from San Diego with an overnight in Guerro Negro, Santa Rosalia, or Loreto.

Some people come to Cabo by private yacht, kayak and even burro.  Don´t laugh. One British school teacher walked, pushed and cursed his burro all the way down the Baja peninsula a few years ago.  Then wrote a charming book about it.

About Ground Transportation:

We pay for your local ground transportation to our clinic. Arriving from the airport – the shuttle to Cabo is the best deal.

Rental Cars:

Major ones here include: Dollar, Payless, Budget, Avis etc.  Best to rent one on the Internet prior to arrival or pay a premium when renting it here.

Local Buses:  $2 will get you to Cabo from San Jose del Cabo 20 miles away.  Chicken buses – ones with the destinations painted on the windows cost 50 (take pesos only) and tour downtown, the beach, and barrios.  Buses do not access the airport – taxi union and shuttles have a lock on it.

About Cell Phones & Communication: Your cell phone may work here.  Or, you can pick up a new one for $40 all over town with 300 minutes on it.  International calling cards may be purchased in many stores, Internet Cafes are everywhere, and larger hotels have Wi-Fi.

About the Water:  A new (2 years) de-sal plant provides one-third of the communities water, the rest from over a dozen underground aquifers.  Hotels often have their own water purification systems and provide bottled water as well.

About the Food:   There are scores of fine restaurants to dine in here from Italian and International Fusion, to Middle Eastern and Asian.  TIPPING 10-15% of the bill is customary. Be careful that the tip wasn't already added on at the bottom of the bill - common at upscale establishments.  TAXI DRIVERS DON'T EXPECT TIPS. They already charge enough as it is.

About Banks, ATM’s & American Express Offices: Are all available throughout Mexico and Los Cabos.  Your Visa or M/C will withdraw $300 to $500 cash daily at most ATM’s. Most businesses take dollars and pesos at current exchange rates.  HSBC, Bancomer, Santander, American Express and other financial institutions have branches here.

About Medical Emergencies:  Some local hospitals have state-of-the-art medical equipment including CAT Scan, MRI, Shock Trauma emergency rooms, dialysis etc. and can do everything from heart surgeries, hip replacements and neurosurgery to elective plastic surgery.  Some accept American health insurance.  If you have a medical emergency, try to contact your Cabo Cosmetic Dental 24/7 Personal Assistant for help in determining your best options.  If you are interested in a Surgical Vacation – from plastic surgeons to hernia surgery - we can recommend the right specialist for you.

About Medicines:  Many prescription drugs in the USA are over-the-counter in Mexico.  Visit a chain pharmacy like Doctor Simi’s (generics) or a Soriana grocery store where there will be a doctor available who will give you a consultation and prescription for $5US.  Medicines are very inexpensive here. Best to have a prescription for those meds with you while in Mexico and when returning back home when passing through customs.

You will feel right at home here.  Many Americans and Canadians have first and 2nd homes in Los Cabos.  Many Mexicans speak English because this is a tourist town and basic English language skills are taught in public schools.  Because Cabo’s economy is based on tourism, you will be a much valued and appreciated visitor. So come have fun in Cabo and return home with some wonderful memories and a beautiful smile.
